Liza and Johnny got married on Labor Day weekend in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and you guys. It was the most magical day ever. The day began at Loft 310, a beautiful rooftop venue in downtown Kalamazoo. Johnny and his groomsman relaxed and watched the episode of The Office where Jim and Pam get married, and Liza got ready surrounded by her bridesmaids, two sisters, mother and mother-in-law. Their first look was on the rooftop, and it was such a sweet moment between these two people, who just adore each other. They are high school sweethearts, by the way! (And I’ve known Liza for a few years now, her sister Kelsey is one of my best friends!) Their dogs Brinkley and Ginger ran out to meet them for a few portraits, and then we captured a few more before a big storm rolled through. Everyone went inside to where the reception was being held, and we captured some beautiful bridal party and family photos. The clouds parted and the sun started shining right as the ceremony began, it was perfect timing! It was such a thoughtful, meaningful ceremony that was very ‘them.’ One of their best friends was their officiant, they had their siblings each do a reading, and they wrote their own vows. And then they walked out as husband and wife with their dog! At the start of the reception, Liza and Johnny and each of their parents greeted each guest as they came in, it was so neat to see that. They had guests travel from all over, even as far as Sweden! Johnny’s brother, Liza’s two sisters, and Liza’s father gave toasts and people were laughing and shedding some happy tears. The couple and their guests danced the night away. It was seriously the most perfect day, and it was so hard picking just 100 photos for their highlights. Congratulations Liza and Johnny!

Anna Grace+Carter//wedding

Anna Grace and Carter had a wedding for the books! I was so excited to get to be their photographer, Anna Grace was actually a bridesmaid in the wedding of one of my 2017 couples, Sena and Will! It was also my first wedding down in the Jackson area, it was great getting to work with new vendors and see different venues. We started off the day at Anna Grace’s home church, Lakeside Presbyterian Church. Both she and Carter were surrounded by so many friends getting ready, with so many laughs and even some happy tears (like when AG and her mother and bridesmaids prayed together, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room!). Anna Grace and Carter met for their first look in the sanctuary of the church, and it was the sweetest moment! Then we braved the July heat and headed outdoors for some photos around the grounds. It was beautiful! After a quick AC break, we headed out for a few more group photos with their awesome bridal party. Then it was time for the ceremony! Anna Grace’s brother walked her down the aisle, and they vowed in front of God and their family and friends to become united in marriage. After the ceremony, we headed over to the Vault Venue for the reception. Anna Grace had mentioned it to me during the wedding planning, and it was SO cool to finally see it in person! It was an old bank that they turned into an event venue, and it was the perfect spot for a wedding. They shared their first dance as husband and wife as the band Lucky Town serenaded the room. Their friends and family danced the night away, until it was time for the petal exit! I’m so happy I got to be a part of Anna Grace and Carter’s wedding day, congratulations love birds! :)

Alyssa and Kagan started their wedding day off with their first look at the Tupelo Country Club. It was about 15 degrees cooler than it usually is in July, and was the perfect weather for a summer wedding! Kagan’s face instantly lit up when he turned around to see Alyssa, and those smiles didn’t leave their faces for the rest of the day. We found a great spot out on the gold course for some photos, and then headed to Ingomar for the ceremony at Kagan’s home church. After a beautiful ceremony that featured a unity candle, Kagan leaned in for their first kiss and pulled Alyssa down into a surprise dip! It was absolutely adorable. Everyone headed back to the Tupelo Country Club for a seated dinner. Right around sunset, we headed out to a spot that Alyssa and her dad, the talented Matt Miller of Tupelo Photographic, had scouted out for some sunset photos. It was so nice and relaxing to take a breather out of the busy wedding day and get some awesome photos. We headed back and celebrated the night away! Matt also had their photo booth business, Photo Booth Crazy, set up, and Alyssa surprised Kagan with a custom cake topper that looked just like them! I adored their first dance, and their dances with their parents, it definitely made me teary eyed! And they ended the night with a sparkler exit! Their day was a blast to be a part of, and it was so sweet seeing these two people radiating happiness! Congrats Alyssa and Kagan!
