Hi, I'm Lauren! I'm the owner and lead photographer behind Lauren Wood Photography, LLC. My love for photography began with my great aunt's film camera that she would let me borrow at family gatherings. When I was 14, I finally got a film camera of my own—an old Canon AE-1—and it immediately became an extension of me. My first real photography experience was on my high school yearbook staff, and with that, my career path was decided.

I earned a degree in Journalism from Michigan State University (go green!), and while there, I cultivated a passion for telling people's authentic stories through images. After graduation, I headed south to Mississippi where I was a staff photographer for two different newspapers and a regional lifestyle magazine. The skills I learned on the job have translated perfectly to capturing wedding days.

My portrait photography side hustle quickly grew, and I knew it was my dream to pursue this full-time. My husband and I, along with our dog, made our way back to Michigan in 2019. I have loved connecting with clients in my home state. We added our son Max to our family in 2022!

 

I feel so grateful to be entrusted with some of the most special days in my clients' lives. Being surrounded by so much love is a constant source of inspiration. When I'm not photographing or editing, you can find me cuddling my dog, traveling with my husband and son, or spending time in my garden.
